Bacopa monnieri is a common herb used in traditional Ayurveda medicine. The herb is native to nearly every continent on the planet, particularly the wetlands of southern and Eastern India. Bacopa monnieri is alternately known as brahmi, a nod to Brahma, the creator god in Hinduism.
As a staple medicine that has been used in Indian medicine, Bacopa monnieri was used to improve longevity and enhance cognition. The herb has found modern appeal for its numerous benefits to cognitive and emotional health and is available in various proprietary extracts, including Synapsa.
The main mechanism of Bacopa monnieri involves the promotion of neuron communication. Bacopa monnieri increases the growth of nerve endings, known as dendrites, thereby increasing the rate at which the brain can communicate with your body.
Bacopa monnieri is also categorized as an adaptogen. Adaptogens are natural substances that are designed to block stress chemicals that trigger negative effects to your physiology. It does this by specifically reducing the amount of the biomarker HSP70. This ultimately decreases how much stress you and your brain perceive, allowing you to better adapt to potential stressors in your environment.
The herb also interacts with the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine is responsible for a wide range of functions, commonly involved in processes like motivation and muscle control. Serotonin is responsible for maintaining mental balance.
Bacopa monnieri offers numerous potential benefits and uses related to cognitive health. As an adaptogen, Bacopa monnierri can potentially calm your nerves and allow you to better handle stress. The herb may have calming or relaxing effects.
Studies show that Bacopa also works synergistically with the activity of GABA receptors. GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid, is a neurotransmitter and your body’s primary natural means of dealing with outside stressors and inhibiting reactions to stress. Its ability to enhance the effects of GABA while improving nerve communication in your brain may encourage sharper thought processes.
Some studies suggest that Bacopa monnieri may promote focus and attention.
Synapsa Bacopa monnieri extract benefits specifically involve learning, memory formation, general focus, and mental performance, particularly in situations or environments requiring multitasking. These findings are based on several clinical studies performed particularly on the Synapsa extract.

I have been taking this for a few weeks. I like that only one capsule per day is needed and I seem to be able to focus and remember things a little better. The reason for only 4 stars is that it isn't something you can feel and know that it is working. It's hard to tell if bacopa is doing anything or if it is just placebo for me, but I am still happy with the product. Unknown on 30th Sep 2017
I like this far better than other branded Bacopa preparations. The dosage and efficacy is far more predictable.
I trust ND completely for ethics, purity, education and safety. navkat on 17th Sep 2017
I've used other bacopa products before... this one is the best so far and the price is also fair. I pan on buying again when my bottle is over. Unknown on 5th Jul 2017
I used to take the same amount of bacopa of another brand.
What surprised me is that with synapsa you wont get lethargic. Overall good product! some1 on 14th Jun 2017
