What are Oleamide Capsules?

Oleamide, also known as Cerebrodiene, is an organic compound and the primary amide derived from oleic acid ODA (octadecanoamide). Oleic Acid is an omega-9 fatty acid from olive oil. Oleamide is colorless and has a waxy solid texture. Oleamide was first isolated from the spinal fluid of sleep-deprived cats. Sometimes Oleamide is classified as a fatty acid primary amide (FAPA) and occurs naturally in animals and accumulates in the cerebrospinal fluid when the body is experiencing sleep deprivation. The natural occurrence of Oleamide in human serum was first reported in 1989.

Oleamide Uses and Benefits

Studies have shown that Oleamide may have the following benefits:

    • May help support healthy sleeping habits*
    • May help promote cognitive function*
    • May help support brain health*

History of Use for Oleamide

Oleamide is a natural metabolite of Oleic acid and has been used in traditional Chinese practices for sleep support. The first use of Oleamide in Traditional Chinese practices started with the Jujube fruit where its usage dates as far back as 2500 years. This later sparked research in which it was found that Oleamide naturally occurs in Jujube plants. Further research has shown that Oleamide appears to be synthesized in humans from ammonia and oleic acid.

Additionally, it has been determined that Oleamide is structurally similar to anandamide. Anecdotal reports suggest that their Oleamide experiences improved their sleep habits.

So far it’s seen that Oleamide has interactions with multiple neurotransmitter systems. Oleamide interacts with the brain’s GABA receptors which is helpful for promoting relaxation. It’s also been discovered that oleamide can bind to the CB1 receptor (cannabinoid 1 receptor). Some research suggests that Oleamide effects can promote healthy levels of neuroinflammation by acting on the CB2 (cannabinoid 2 receptor) in high concentrations. Thus suggesting that this compound has potential to promote cellular health and promote healthy stress levels.

Studies have shown serotoninergic effects of Oleamide. It makes the 5-HT2A serotonin receptors more sensitive without necessarily influencing the normal signaling process. It also seems to extend the enhanced sensitivity to 5-HT1A and 5-HT2C receptors with no effect on the 5-HT3 receptors and has no effect on serotonin binding to the 5-HT receptors.

Interestingly, Oleamide binds to the 5HT7 receptors and acts as an inhibitor on the 5-HT7 receptor. It acts as agonist on the receptor when no serotonin is present and produces serotonin like effects at a lower intensity.

There is continuous research being conducted to discover more about Oleamide’s influence and on sleep and other Oleamide effects.*

How To Take Oleamide

    Punch in the Stomach

This gave me a bad stomach ache. I tried for several nights and each time I used this in about 30 - 60 minutes I would have a bad gut ache. I'm not sure if its this brand or oleamide in general. I can't recommend this product.

    Best Oleamide Supplement

It works! Simple. Helps me get to dreamtime quicker. Not worth double dosing as I find it's counteractive & I sleep shorter. Great quality @ a great price.

    Sleep thru the night

I have tried 50 different type of natural sleep aids - some from Iherb, I saw what sleeping pills did to my mother, it eventually stopped working and she just could not sleep at all! I am menopause too, and also just got off HRT. Sleep has always been an issue for me. Now I take 1 teaspoon of Oleamide powder(about 2.7g - much higher dose than suggested) I sleep thru the night. I also research to see if any bad effect, but there is none, as it is from olive oil. I think I must need the fatty acid in my brain to fall asleep, thus the large dose. I do not want my body to habituate to it and stop working especially at such large dose. So B4 bed, I take 1tsp Oleamide 2x/week, THC or CBN 2 times a week, If I can sleep thru 4 good nights a week, the other nights tend to be ok may be because I am more relaxed at night and the brain can shut down easily. If it does not work for you, try a larger dose.

    Transformed my sleep

I have always had a hard time falling asleep and an even harder time staying asleep. Once I would wake up at night, it could take a long as 3 hours to fall back to sleep. Now when I wake up, I can easily just roll over and close my eyes again and be sleeping. I hardly remember waking up at night now. The sleep tracker on my watch has also shown improvements to my deep sleep (went from maybe 20-30 minutes if I'm lucky, to 65 minutes) I also wake (a little) earlier in the morning feeling completely rested and refreshed. I just toss it back with 1/4tsp olive oil and I sleep like my husband (I'd say like a baby, but we all know they don't usually sleep well at night lol). Oleamide and Magnesium Glycinate are the two single best things I could have done for my sleep quality. I'll never be without these again.

My sleep wouldn't be the same without it

Holy Cow! This stuff is amazing! I normally have a very difficult time staying asleep at night, then have a really hard time going back to sleep. Aggravated by my youngest kid waking up every night to potty in the middle of the night. Now if I wake up I am able to go right back to sleep as soon as I roll over. The quality of my sleep has greatly improved because of this.

    Works great for sleep

Bought some of this because I was desperate for sleep. As a chronic insomniac I can say this stuff really works. Has to take much more than the recommended dose but I have built up a resistance to most sleep medications. So perhaps you should first try with only 100 mgs as suggested (to start out) and see how it works for you before going to higher dosages.

    Oleamide powder

Excellence of quality, packaging and price. Oleamide is tasteless, and can me taken sublingually although it does not seem to dissolve. It seems to be opening a different side of sleep quality and effects that improve the crucial sleep latency. It is too soon to tell but I hope it will replace Zolpidem for long term reliance.
