Our Taiwanese partner grows fungal mycelium in suspended liquid culture, controlling the nutrients and growth parameters so the organism natively produces high levels of one target bioactive. For Erinamax, that target is erinacine A. For Epicomp, the same platform is steered toward hispidin, standardized to 1.5% in the SS-MN4 strain we use.

What the research on SS-MN4 suggests.
Hispidin works the opposite side of the myostatin story from epicatechin. Where epicatechin supports growth signaling upstream, pharmacological work on the SS-MN4 strain suggests hispidin helps keep MuRF-1 and Atrogin-1 in check. Those are the markers that tag muscle tissue for breakdown during heavy training stress.
The same research points to upregulation of the fast-twitch genes Myh2 and Myh7, the myosin heavy chains behind power-generating muscle fiber, and to a striking effect on how muscle stores its fuel.
A hike at 9,500 feet convinced our owner this belonged in the catalog.

Our liquid-culture partner kept talking up a hispidin-standardized Sanghuangporus mycelium. Paul, ND's owner, had been beta-testing samples of it for a while.
An honest worst-case test.
A year and a half of running ND and raising a newborn had left little time to train. The family hike started at a trailhead around 9,500 feet, a big jump from our facility at roughly 1,181 feet in the Valley of the Sun.

Is Epicomp a stimulant or a hormone?+
Neither. All four actives are plant and fungal compounds: a flavanol, a phytoecdysteroid, a triterpenoid, and a standardized mycelium. Beta-ecdysterone is an ecdysteroid produced by plants, studied for receptor-level muscle support; it is not a human hormone and Epicomp contains no hormones.
I already take epicatechin. What does the stack add?+
Epicatechin only works the growth side. Epicomp keeps the full 225mg dose and adds the preservation side (hispidin-standardized Sanghuangporus), receptor-level growth support (beta-ecdysterone), and recovery coverage (ursolic acid). Each active has a different job, which is the point of the formula.
What is Sanghuangporus, and how does it relate to Erinamax?+
Sanghuangporus sanghuang is a medicinal fungus. Our partner grows its mycelium in the same suspended liquid-culture bioreactors that produce Erinamax's lion's mane, steering the chemistry so the organism natively produces its key bioactive. For Erinamax that is erinacine A; for Epicomp it is hispidin, standardized to 1.5% in the SS-MN4 strain and verified by UPLC per batch.
When will I notice anything?+
The label lists immediate effects with peak effects at three to four weeks of daily use. Energy and endurance support tend to be the early signals, while the recomposition side is something you judge across training weeks, not single sessions.
Do I need to cycle it, or time it around workouts?+
