  • About Infini-K

Infini-K is a full-spectrum vitamin K stack that combines three distinct forms of vitamin K in a single capsule: 500mcg of Vitamin K2 as microencapsulated Menaquinone-4 (MK-4), 100mcg of Vitamin K2 as microencapsulated Menaquinone-7 (MK-7), and 100mcg of Vitamin K1 as Phylloquinone. This is then all paired with 500mg of broken cell chlorella, which also contains vitamin K1. This blend helps direct calcium into bone, supports healthy arterial structure, and helps maintain healthy circulation. If you already take an optimized vitamin D product, Infini-K is designed to pair with it and take advantage of the well-documented synergy between the two vitamins.

    Our Infini-K story

When we decided to make a standalone optimized vitamin D product, Infini-D, we realized we should also build a standalone optimized vitamin K product to go alongside it, in case there was a desire to combine the two. Our approach centered on building a broad-spectrum vitamin K blend. To achieve this, we leveraged three forms of vitamin K that each have different absorption and distribution characteristics.

MK-4 is the main form found in tissues, and the brain. It is absorbed rapidly, but it's also cleared quite rapidly from the body. This means that the MK-4 portion of the formulation only produces a short burst of vitamin K activity. To ensure longer and sustained vitamin K activity, MK-7 was added. MK-7 elevates vitamin K levels for a much longer period of time (up to 48 hours), meaning that daily dosing leads to a gradual accumulation of vitamin K levels in the body. Since the levels of MK-7 build up gradually over time and stay elevated for a prolonged period of time, MK-7 is often regarded as being the most efficacious form of vitamin K.

Vitamin K1 is the primary form we get from our diet, especially from dark leafy greens, where it serves as an electron carrier in photosynthesis. Similar to MK-4, vitamin K1 is also cleared relatively quickly from the body. However, the main benefit vitamin K1 has, is that it is rapidly absorbed by the liver. This is of particular relevance to vitamin K, since many of the coagulation factors that vitamin K activates, are located in the liver. What is also interesting to note about vitamin K1, is that it is converted to MK-4 in the body!

Last but not least, we also added in Chlorella. Partially because it is actually a very good source of vitamin K1, but also to take advantage of its antioxidant properties driven by its high chlorophyll content. These antioxidant properties help protect the vitamin K in the capsules, in addition to conferring oxidation balancing benefits in the body.

    Benefits

    • Directs Calcium Into Bone: Vitamin K helps guide dietary calcium toward our bones which supports healthy bone mineral density over time.
    • Supports Healthy Arterial Structure: Vitamin K supports healthy arterial structure by directing calcium.
    • Helps Maintain Healthy Circulation: Vitamin K supports healthy vascular elasticity, which helps maintain circulation throughout the body.
    • Supports Healthy Aging Of Bones: Long-term daily vitamin K supplementation supports bone health as you age by keeping calcium metabolism working smoothly.

By combining three complementary forms of vitamin K, Infini-K supports both skeletal and cardiovascular health from several angles at once, a simple daily addition for anyone focused on healthy aging.

    Quality and Standardization

    • Microencapsulated MK-4: We standardize each capsule to 500mcg of Vitamin K2 as microencapsulated Menaquinone-4 for stability against oxidation.
    • Microencapsulated MK-7: We include 100mcg of Vitamin K2 as microencapsulated Menaquinone-7, chosen for its long-lasting elevation of vitamin K levels.
    • Vitamin K1 as Phylloquinone: We add 100mcg of Vitamin K as Phylloquinone, the primary dietary form found in dark leafy greens.
    • Broken Cell Chlorella: We use 500mg of broken cell Chlorella spp. because it is a good source of K1, and as a natural antioxidant that helps protect the vitamin K forms from oxidation, in place of the vitamin C used in our D3 + K2 formula.
    • Identity and Purity Testing: We test our raw materials in-house using HPLC to confirm identity, potency, and purity before release.

    Mechanism of Action

    • Liver Loading Via K1: Vitamin K1 quickly raises vitamin K levels in the liver, where it helps activate coagulation factors before being cleared relatively rapidly.
    • Indirect MK-4 Conversion: A portion of vitamin K1 converts to MK-4, the most common form of vitamin K in tissue and the most abundant form found in the brain.
    • Direct Tissue Spike: Supplemental MK-4 quickly spikes vitamin K levels for a short period in the form found most commonly in tissue, working in concert with K1.
    • Sustained MK-7 Pulse: MK-7 provides a long-lasting elevation of vitamin K that is highly relevant to bone and cardiovascular health.
    • Antioxidant Protection: Chlorella's chlorophyll-driven antioxidant activity helps protect the vitamin K forms from oxidation.

    Overview of the Science

Research on vitamin K2 has focused heavily on bone. Menatetrenone (MK-4) has been studied for its effects on lumbar bone mineral density [1], and vitamin K2 supplementation has been reported to support hip bone geometry and bone strength indices in postmenopausal women [2]. Some studies indicate that vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 taken together may help support bone mineral density of the lumbar spine [3], and continuous combined supplementation with the two vitamins has been examined for its effects on bone mineral density and normal coagulation balance [4].

Vascular research has explored how vitamin K2 relates to calcium handling in arterial tissue. Randomized trials have examined vitamin K2 together with vitamin D in relation to calcium deposition in cardiovascular tissue [5] [6], and a pilot trial looked at vitamin K and the progression of arterial calcium scores [7]. Research also suggests menaquinone-7 may help support vascular elasticity in healthy adults over a one-year period [8].

Additional work has looked at vitamin K supplementation and the progression of arterial calcium in older adults [9], and reviews have discussed vitamin K2's broader place in cardiovascular health [10]. Taken together, this body of research suggests vitamin K may help support both skeletal and cardiovascular health.
