Lemon balm extract powder comes from the lemon balm plant, alternately known as balm mint and scientifically known as Melissa officinalis. It is an organic form of the mint plant that grows all over the world.
Lemon balm was initially used as a tonic in Hellenic Greece. It was later introduced in Europe and used prominently in the Middle Ages, where it was extracted as an elixir that was applied to sores and flesh wounds or prescribed for fevers and headaches. In traditional use, lemon balm has been brewed as a tea to provide a slight calming effect.
Lemon balm extract powder offers a concentrated form of the herb, presenting a potential wide range of beneficial effects.*
Many of Lemon Balm's benefits comes from how it interacts with gamma-aminobutyric acid, or GABA. GABA is a neurotransmitter responsible for regulating excited neurons throughout the nervous system. In other words, it is the brain’s primary response to stress.
GABA allows for smooth communication between the brain and the nerves even during times of mental or physical duress. Instead of directly supplementing GABA, lemon balm regulates GABA transaminase, which blocks GABA.
Even aside from augmenting GABA production, lemon balm has been found to contain complex chemical compounds that may soothe muscles and nerves. Eugenol, for instance, has potentially been shown to relax muscle tissue, which eases tension and prevents the involuntary tightening of muscles.
Lemon balm has traditionally been used to support normal sleep. Studies have yet to single out it’s potential sleep benefits, but some sources point to terpenes, organic compounds in the herb that can provide a soothing effect. This can combine with GABA’s tendency to quiet the mind before sleep.
Studies also suggest that lemon balm extract may help increase concentration and focus, potentially providing greater mental clarity. Some studies show that these cognitive effects are a result of how lemon balm interacts with acetylcholine receptors. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in the brain, most prominently in concentration, memory formation, and logical and verbal reasoning.
As a dietary supplement, take 500mg of Lemon Balm Extract 1-2 times daily.
Nootropics Depot offers 125g or 250g jars of Lemon Balm Extract powder. Nootropics Depot's Lemon Balm Extract has been lab-tested and verified for both product purity and identity.

I bought this to substitute the Sleep Support as sometimes it is too strong. This has worked out excellent in helping me get deeper rest. There is a noticeable difference between the days I do and don't take it. I wake up less and have more dreams. For the price, the powder is definitely worth it!
Arrived quickly as always.
Subtle anxiolytic effects. I did not notice any improvement in thinking/cognition or general health. I did notice it made falling asleep harder if taken late in the day. Your mileage may vary. I've heard of other people who swear by lemon balm.
This has mild calming effects. I drink it at night in some hot tea, and it seems to just put me in a frame of mild for falling asleep. If you want stronger, more defined calming effects, I would recommend phenibut as lemon balm can't touch that stuff, but overall, if you're not ready for phenibut, lemon balm is decent.
I found this to be a much more cost effective extract in comparison with the more expensive, Cyracos Melissa Extract. That said, I was taking a heaping 1/4 tablespoon of Cyracos and take an even 1-2tsp of this product to achieve the same effect, so it may not be cheaper if I regularly dose at the higher end of that range. Overall, great for stress and mood-enhancing effects - even if I’m not feeling anxious, but more down, I find this picks me right up in a sustainable, non-habit forming way.
So far it didn’t do much on weight loss but helps with my digestion and sleeping.
I have really come to appreciate this substance. It is subtle but works well, and it tastes pretty good when made into a tea. I take some during the day to calm me down, or a larger amount at night to sleep. It really shines when combined with ashwagandha.
I take a gram of lemon balm in the morning with my coffee. It works well to balance out the caffeine. It is like theanine in that regard, but better.
It's kinda subtle, but helps a bit with sleep
