TeaCrine Theacrine Powder

What is Theacrine?

Theacrine is an alkaloid structurally similar to Caffeine, and preliminary evidence suggests that it activates similar signalling pathways. The preliminary evidence also suggests less tolerance buildup with theacrine. However, the tolerance effects have not been clinically proven. It is found in the camellia assamica variant, kucha, which is from what Kucha tea is made. One study that noted stimulation with theacrine failed to find any tolerance over the course of seven days; a time frame where caffeine would normally show tolerance. This suggests that the body either does not, or may have a reduced tolerance, to theacrine.

Theacrine vs Caffeine

Theacrine as a Natural Caffeine Alternative

Based on preclinical and human clinical research, theacrine benefits include:

  • Supports healthy metabolic activity and energy production*
  • Decreases physical discomfort associated with intense exercise*
  • Reduces perceived exertion from exercise*
  • Increases cellular protection through oxidation balancing activity*
  • Supports a positive mood and decreased feelings of stress and irritability*
  • Increases motivation to exercise and accomplish tasks*
  • Increases neural drive*

Theacrine's Catecholaminergic and Adenosinergic Activity

Theacrine’s effects come from the reactions between two neural pathways, catecholaminergic and adenosinergic pathways. By affecting these major pathways and supporting other neurotransmitters, Theacrine increases energy without irritability and enables competitive athletes, active individuals and driven professionals to enhance their physical and mental performance.* As documented in an open-source scientific publication on theacrine, concentrated theacrine doses support catecholaminergic signaling. Research on theacrine also indicated that the compound increases activity in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) region of the brain which is believed to support motivation and general cognitive function.*

In addition to its effects on catecholaminergic signalling, Theacrine (as TeaCrine®) is also thought to regulate adenosinergic activity.* Adenosine plays an important role in biochemical processes that promote fatigue, sedation and relaxation.* By regulating the activity of the A1 and A2a receptors, Theacrine (as TeaCrine®) may help decrease perceived feelings of fatigue making this a great option for those looking for a theacrine pre workout supplement or other theacrine bodybuilding benefits.* It is believed that TeaCrine may be the best theacrine supplement for its ability to promote energy while minimizing chances of irritability.* Athletes have reported that Teacrine elevated endurance and strength levels making it the best theacrine supplement for fitness-related uses.* Many users have reported that TeaCrine’s dual action on activating catecholamine receptors and regulating adenosinergic receptors helps them maintain healthy levels of focus and energy making it the best theacrine supplement for long bursts of productivity.*

Theacrine Dosage

As a dietary supplement, take 100mg of TeaCrine Powder once daily.

    Teacrine powder - bad reaction

Posted by Brian on 15th Sep 2019

I'm very sensitive to caffeine, so given what some people have said, I decided to try Teacrine. I took less than the indicated dosage in late morning two days ago, and felt fairly out of it for most of the rest of the day. That by itself was not so surprising. However, soon after eating my normal amount of dark chocolate the next morning (i.e., yesterday morning), I felt out of it in the same way, and it lasted for about six hours. To be careful, I didn't eat any more chocolate the rest of the day. This morning I ate 2/3 my normal amount of dark chocolate, and once again I feel out of it. As far as I can tell, Teacrine has (at least temporarily - hopefully this goes away) made me super extra sensitive to caffeine. (Normally I eat a decent amount of dark chocolate throughout the day, something I can normally tolerate given how much less caffeine there is in dark chocolate than coffee.) Given what other people say, this must be a very uncommon reaction, but still I thought I would share so others could be on the watch out for. BTW, to be clear, this is a negative review specifically of Teacrine; I'm a big fan of Nootropics Depot.

powerful but only when stacked with caffeine

Posted by Unknown on 8th Aug 2018

stack with caffeine to increase bioavailability. half life is longer and less tolerance/buildup as well as only the mental benefits of caffeine and not the physical. stack 2:1 ratio :caffeine:theacrine for best results (eg 100mg theacrine:200mg caffeine or 50mg theacrine:100mg caffeine)

Slightly less potent than caffeine, mg for mg

Posted by Dany on 5th Jul 2018

I think I added this to my cart on a whim to qualify for free shipping. If you're not a regular caffeine user or find yourself sensitive to it, this might give a good boost. However, for regular caffeine users I don't think there's enough of a difference. If I were to purchase again, I would DEFINITELY get the capsules over the powder. I don't mind weighing out powders, but what basically amounts to a caffeine alternative, not really worth the trouble. On that note, if I had capsules it seems like they might be good on the go, and would probably be preferable to caffeine pills -- but I'm really a coffee drinker above all.

    Don't take 100mg !

Posted by Barak on 18th Dec 2017

This stuff is weird. Tastes weird and the effects standalone may suck if you don't want to be focused and lazy... My own exprience with it is I consume this at 10-30mg and the results were not clear...

100g of awful packed into 2g of powder

    Posted by a e on 30th Dec 2016

This stuff is about 50x the price of caffeine powder... when caffeine powder was still easy to get. It also tastes _at least_ 50x as bad. I find the effect similar to the combination of caffeine + theanine. The peak was over within a couple of hours, after which i didn't notice additional benefits of concentration, but i did feel some continued effects (e.g. lack of desire to sleep) for another few hours. But that taste. It tastes like ass, but worse. And it lingers longer. I'm fairly sensitive to the effects of caffeine, so i mixed ~50mg of theacrine with ~5oz of orange juice, and drank it. Then i drank more orange juice. Then i drank some water. And more water. And coconut water. And milk. And at that point, the aftertaste was (still there and still terrible, but) manageable. Without having taken theacrine regularly, i already believe the assessment that it is not habit forming. The flavor is certainly enough to keep any eager reward centers at bay.

    Intérressant

Posted by Unknown on 9th Nov 2016

Plutôt chère mais pas mal, similaire a la caféine mais sans la dépendance. Bien pour travailler des heures durant. Bien pour le sport aussi. Rien d'autre a dire sur ce nootropique, pas d'effet indésirable remarqués.

Similar, but more comfortable, than caffeine

Posted by Steven Schupbach on 4th Apr 2016

TeaCrine is structurally similar to caffeine, and pharmacologically probably works on the exact same receptor system/metabolic pathway. TeaCrine, in my experience, taken at ~100mg reliably produced a nice caffeine-like boost to motivation, attentiveness, and euphoria, but marginally weaker in each effect than caffeine. In addition, it did not produce shakiness of the extremities, as much diuretic effect, or xerostomia (dry mouth). In general, TeaCrine has essentially all the same effects of caffeine, but slightly weaker stimulation at the same dose, and much less noticeable negative side effects like "the jitters." It also last about 6 hours for me, as opposed to 3-4 hours of full efficacity from caffeine.

    Improved caffeine

Posted by Unknown on 13th Feb 2016

Theacrine is like a better caffeine for me. It is almost like caffeine and l-theanine, but better. I am not sure what the difference is with TeaCrine brand, but the logo looks cool. Lol
