Choline L-Bitartrate Capsules
What is Choline?
Choline bitartrate is water-soluble compound, often categorized as a B vitamin,. Its composition contains two separate components, choline and bitartrate. Choline thought of as a basic dietary compound that is found in many foods such as eggs, wheat germ, poultry, fish, organ meats, cruciferous vegetables, and peanuts and other legumes. Choline also occurs naturally in the body in the form of phosphatidylcholine, simply known as lecithin, which is found in the fat portion of cellular membranes and the myelin sheath that covers nerve fibers.
What is Bitartrate?
Also known as tartaric acid, Bitartrate is a salt that when paired with choline streamlines absorption and efficacy.
While choline is produced in the body, it appears in limited quantities, which is why many people opt to take a choline bitartrate supplement.
How Choline L-Bitartrate Capsules Works
Choline is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is believed to be one of the most abundant neurotransmitters in the body. Acetylcholine supports motivation, attention, arousal, and memory formation.* Acetylcholine is also the neurotransmitter responsible for other bodily functions such as transmitting signals between the motor nerves and skeletal muscles, allowing for basic movement.*
While Choline is not a B vitamin, it often operates in a similar manner to them, especially vitamin B12 (known as cyanocobalamin) and vitamin B9 (known as folic acid).
Why Choose Choline L-Bitartrate from Nootropics Depot?
Some of the Choline Bitartrate available for purchase is racemic, or a mixture of dextrorotory and levorotory enantiomers. The issue with that is twofold. The levorotory enantiomer is the only bioactive form. So the racemic version is only delivering half the dosage that the body can actually use. The other issue is that DL-Choline Bitartrate has been shown to be nephrotic in a number of studies. The only reason to use racemic Choline Bitartrate is to save on cost, as the synthesis is cheaper. That is not a good excuse in our opinion, which is why our Choline Bitartrate is enantiopure, and only contains the bioactive levorotory enantiomer.
Choline L-Bitartrate Dosage
As a dietary supplement, take 1-2 500mg Choline L-Bitartrate capsules daily.
