Rhodiola Crenulata
I love the Rhodiola Crenulata! I used to take the other one (without the crenulata in the name). This is my favorite!!
Rhodiola crenulata grows at high altitudes in mountainous and arctic regions and is frequently used in phytotherapy in Uzbekistan, China, and other Asian countries. Rhodiola crenulata root has been traditionally used to reduce the impact of high altitudes on our bodies. Arctic and Himalayan practices used rhodiola crenulata to support endurance, yet recent research has found that a Rhodiola crenulata extract may promote healthy stress levels and support cognitive function.
There are dozens of species of Rhodiola but the species that seems to generate the most interest is Rhodiola rosea due to its high concentrations of rosavins and salidroside. Lately there’s been a shortage of Rhodiola rosea so different species are being mislabeled and sold as Rhodiola rosea. The most commonly mislabeled rhodiola species is Rhodiola crenulata, which contains no rosavins but high amounts of salidroside and p-tyrosol. This variation may be better for people looking for higher salidroside content and less rosavins.
Rhodiola crenulata benefits are largely credited to Salidroside, which is believed to have neuroprotective properties, promote feelings of well being and support cellular health.* Salidroside, also known as rhodioloside, is a glucoside form of tyrosol. Some studies suggest that Salidroside may have adaptogenic properties, which explains its historic use for a variety of purposes and why Rhodiola crenulata benefits may vary from person to person. Salidroside has been shown in a few studies to promote energy, promote feelings of well being, and reduce appetite. Salidroside may also support nerve health as a few studies found that that salidroside seems to support the nerve repair process and help protect nerve cells as well as promote cognitive function.
Yes, this Rhodiola crenulata extract contains a minimum 3% salidroside content.
As a dietary supplement, take one 500mg Rhodiola crenulata extract capsule once daily.

I love the Rhodiola Crenulata! I used to take the other one (without the crenulata in the name). This is my favorite!!
I take this on the weekends when i go off caffeine and it boosts me back up to 'functional' and not grumpy without interfering with the recovery of my caffiene tolerance. I've tried numerous other things for that purpose, and Rhodiola Rosea works fairly well, but this hits the spot best! Overall i'd say it feels like a moderately potent natural mood booster than a stimulant or nootropic.

I got the sample backs of the three different rhodiola extracts and this was my favorite. The other formulations with rosavins I found too sedating. This one gave the most stimulating and endurance boost. Also, was relaxing as well. The only draw back was weird tasting burps. Otherwise, a great nootro for afternoon slump. Definite add to my stack.
I'll preface this by saying this is great stuff. It's so good that I wrestled with whether to give this 3 or 4 stars given the nature of my complaint. The problem is that 500mg is too high of a dosage. When I take 500mg, I find that the experience is a bit too speedy, especially if taken with coffee. 250mg, on the other hand, is the sweet spot. Unfortunately, it's difficult to split the capsule dosage in half and that added factor led me to decide on 3 instead of 4. If ND would offer this in 250mg doses, it would be an easy 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. Great product, just needs a little tweaking. ND Admin: I will discuss with the team. Perhaps we can do 500mg scored tablets, which would give you the option to break them in half. That might be a good idea!
I researched the different varieties of Rhodiola Nootropics Depot offers before opting for Crenulata. It's supposed to be the most stimulating variety, so that was the deciding factor. I've heard this noot referred to as a "nap in a pill" for its reenergizing properties, so I take mine in the afternoon as a pick me up. Nootropics Depot offers several varieties of Rhodiola as well as a sampler pack, so make sure you research them to get the right Rhodiola for you. As always Nootropics Depot quality can't be beat; the only time I consider buying anywhere else is when Nootropics Depot doesn't carry it. If something is sold out, I just put my email on the wait list. I'd rather wait a week or so for ND to restock than risk buying a substandard product from another vendor.
ND is still the best and only place I get Nootropics like this. Everyone's body is different and some people just don't respond to certain supplements. I think this was one of them for me. I have tried many of ND's products and they are always amazing, high-quality, and deliver fast. Other products have been life-changing for me which I made sure to review. This was one of just a few that I didn't get much out of.
It helped me a lot! Can only recommend it!
I tried all three Rhodiola formulas and for me this one is the best for a boost in calm, focused, energy. It’s not over stimulating for me. I’m choosing to buy this again; along w/ the Rhodiola rosea (3% rosavins + 1% salidroside). I will use that formula strategically as well; more for the relaxation component. I recommend to try all three and see what meets your needs.
Gives me a nice calm boost, more noticeable than 3% rosavins.
Having experienced the Rosea variety from other brands in my early twenties, I came to try Crenulata to compare. I took it at home on a few music-rehearsal days and a few times at work, always alongside with caffeine. At home, it kindof relaxes me while also making me feel I should do something. I feel extra critical about singing and playing, like, it's interesting, but not exactly my number one choice. At work (a customer service position), I find it lovable especially mixed with chocamine and caffeine. It makes me feel a deeper connection with the customers when I serve them. I seem to generate more genuine smiles in their reaction than usual. Feels very human, organic, grounded and sociable. One a day is enough.
