Salidrosol is a unique combination of pure salidroside and tyrosol, two of the main active compounds found in Rhodiola rosea. More interestingly, the combination of salidroside and tyrosol is what gives Rhodiola rosea its unique energizing properties.* By having both compounds represented at high amounts in this easy to take tablet, you can tap into a sense of pure clean energy!*
Salidrosol is a very novel combination of two of the most bioactive compounds found in Rhodiola rosea, salidroside and tyrosol. These unique compounds are both thought to be responsible for the stimulating effects of Rhodiola rosea. While you can get a solid dose of salidroside from Rhodiola rosea, the real magic with salidrosol comes from the tyrosol content.
Tyrosol is present only in small quantities in Rhodiola rosea, however, it is the aglycone of salidroside. What this means, is that salidroside has a sugar group on it, and when this is removed, we end up with tyrosol. This process happens within Rhodiola rosea at a very slow rate, which is why the tyrosol content is quite low. In our bodies however, the sugar group is quite quickly removed from salidroside, meaning that tyrosol is normally formed in our body after Rhodiola rosea consumption. This likely explains the delay in stimulating effects with regular Rhodiola rosea supplementation.*
Since salidrosol already contains a large amount of tyrosol, it means that you can feel the effects of tyrosol much quicker. This then results in a very rapid energizing effect, especially when the tablets are allowed to dissolve in the mouth so you can take advantage of sublingual and buccal absorption!*

Rhodiola rosea has been used for centuries for its incredible adaptogenic and stimulating effects. Alongside Panax ginseng and Ashwagandha, Rhodiola rosea is certainly one of the most popular adaptogens around, and for good reason! When we first created salidrosol, we were trying to push the stimulating effects a little bit more, which led us to the discovery that tyrosol is quite stimulating and kicks in rapidly.* Having both compounds in their isolated form, leads to very convenient and quick dosing, while ensuring a large dose of tyrosol, something which isn’t entirely possible with plain Rhodiola rosea.
Both salidroside and tyrosol have a fantastic effect on upregulating mitochondrial activity, even helping to produce new mitochondria through a process called mitochondrial biogenesis!* This is likely where a lot of the energizing effects come from. In addition to that, salidroside and tyrosol can also help dampen cortisol, thus producing a very pleasant stress management effect, in addition to its energizing effects.* The energizing effects are further amplified by salidroside and tyrosols ability to upregulate tyrosine hydroxylase activity. Tyrosine hydroxylase is the rate limiting enzyme in dopamine production, and thus, by upregulating its activity, salidroside can enhance dopamine production! Overall, when looking at the mitochondrial energy effects and the dopaminergic effects, it is easy to see why Rhodiola rosea is so highly revered for promoting energy levels.*
Salidroside and tyrosol also happen to be very neuroprotective, especially when it comes to dopaminergic neurons.* Thus, when looking at the tyrosine hydroxylase effects of salidrosol, it becomes quite clear that salidrosol is a fantastic supplement for promoting overall dopaminergic function.*

I haven't had much luck with rhodiola supplements that I've tried. I haven't ever noticed much, but this product is where that changed for me. It gives an excellent push of clean, clear-minded energy with a mild mood boost. It's great for days when I experience fatigue. It works great in both the early morning and afternoon. Would definitely recommend this!
The shipping and packaging were great, but the product, like every nootropic I have tried thus far, had no discernible effect on me. None of the potential benefits (energy, mood) were noticed, even when I doubled the dose to 40mg.
I’m typically very sensitive to energizing nootropics or adaptogens, any stimulating substance really. Surprisingly, even though I took this for a few months and followed instructions each morning and allowed for dissolving 5-10 under the tongue I didn’t feel much (if any) effects). I would definitely recommend something else if you’re looking for focus, mood or energy.
I tried all types of Rhodiola that ND has to offer. This is by far the most effective that I found. I take it alongside with vitamins, caffeine and a hearty breakfast at 5AM and it really makes a HUGE difference in dealing with heavy workloads and long hours in construction. Every difficult challenge is easier to overcome. My co-workers complain that I'm always in a good and energetic mood regardless of what happens during the day. I don't know, I'm just filled with the urge to keep going and get the next thing done. No jitters, no rushing, just plain clear minded perseverance. I love this product. PS, the quick-dissolve tablet has a nice cherry-like taste to it also.
I've been a long time user (years) of this formulation, since before it was in tablets. The tablets are a big win over the solution. Far less hassle in dosing/transporting and they're still scored down the center so you can still take 1/2 doses. As far as effects I love that it kicks in quickly, giving a clear, calm, subtle energy and focus. Unlike any other stimulating compound, but distinctly stimulating none-the-less. The only downside for me is that sometimes it gives a really great, pro-social mood boost, and sometimes the mood boost falls completely flat. Even after years of trials I haven't found a way to consistently get that nice mood boost from this (or other Rhodiola products.) Seems to work best when taken as-needed or for short stents of a few days. It particularly shines both as an afternoon stimulant that won't leave you feeling edgy or give insomnia AND for first thing in the morning as a coffee substitute. I especially it like for cycling or taking tolerance breaks from caffeine.
