7,8-Dihydroxyflavone, also known as 7,8-DHF, is a natural flavone found in a number of species that can reach the brain and exert cognitive effects. It binds to the TrkB receptors in a similar way to BDNF, or brain derived neurotrophic factor. When the TrkB receptor is activated, neuroprotective and neurogenetive effects occur in neurons, which tend to affect the dendrites. Dendrites are what reach out from the neurons into the synapse to participate in signaling with other neurons. 7,8-DHF has been shown to promote the growth of these dendrites, and to help restore communication between neurons in animal models. Other natural extracts, like polygala tenuifolia and bacopa monnieri work in a similar fashion, but rather than binding directly to the TrkB receptor, they cause a release in BDNF, which then binds to the receptor. 7,8-DHF has also demonstrated a protective effect against apoptosis. 7,8-DHF can cross the blood brain barrier, and act directly on brain TrkB receptors; which is something that peripheral administration of BDNF cannot do. As such, it is a very promising natural compound for cognitive function.
As a dietary supplement, take one to two 25mg capsules of 7,8 Dihydroxyflavone daily. It appears to be subject to extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver.

Could not be happier with the tangible bdnf effects, with such benefits for mood and cognitive flexibility potential. It’s almost like microdosing a tryptamine, but without the negative effect potential that some people could very easily develop if doing so. I love these little capsules! I take two a day and it keeps my mood level and high during the day. It is not like it hits you in the face with it. It is nice and subtle, but there. It is like a dollar a day to keep my mood going steady.
Really a big fan of the product. It does a nice job simulating a "runner's high" and pairs great with my morning cup of coffee. Or with any of my other nootropics quite honestly. If it wasn't for the extremely high price point I would make this a regular part of my stack.
This store is not the first where I take 7,8-DHF. So I can compare with others. The quality is good, but not the best. The drug really works, but begins to do it after 8-10 days and at a dose of 75-100 mg per day. Delivery is timely.
