Why Should I Take Mushroom Magic Matcha?
It’s been a long morning and that classic afternoon slump has arrived. What do you do? Reach for another cup of coffee or an energy drink? Perhaps you are feeling a bit more utilitarian and reach for a capsule of caffeine NALT. That works but having a tasty beverage to sip on really brings something magical to the table. We find ourselves in this conundrum very often and then we realized we don’t have to be in this situation because we can simply formulate a drink mix! Easier said than done though because there were many differing opinions in our team of beta-testers. Some wanted higher levels of caffeine to really get over that afternoon slump while others wanted a more gentle beverage to sip on before a yoga session. We ended up settling on a dose that all beta-testers could vibe with: 75 mg of caffeine. Now for those of you who regularly consume caffeine in 100 mg+ doses this may seem a little bit low, but we worked some magic with this formulation!
By adding FULL doses of four different mushrooms to the mix, we were able to really dial in the stimulation while keeping the effects smooth.* One of the biggest contributors to the energizing effects of Mushroom Magic Matcha is our 1:1 cordyceps, which produces a very nice amount of physical and mental energy.* Next up, two very unique mushroom species, poria and tiger milk mushroom, which help further dial in the energizing and focus enhancing effects of the cordyceps mushroom.* Last but not least, our lion’s mane 1:1 rounds out the mushroom blend, further adding to the focus and mood boosting potential.* This is where we get to the caffeine portion. The dose of matcha powder that we used delivers only 25 mg of caffeine, which is perhaps enough for your average low dose mycelium on grain and weak sauce mushroom beverage that seems to be flooding the market these days, but not for Magic Mushroom Matcha!* Besides the fact that these “mushroom” beverages don’t really contain much (or any!) mushroom material, they also like to advertise that their drinks contain only a fraction of the caffeine found in a cup of coffee. Great, that’s why decaf exists! For those of us who are serious about our afternoon pick me up though, 25 mg of caffeine just isn’t going to cut it. Bumping up the amount of caffeine with another 50 mg of caffeine anhydrous together with full doses of mushrooms brought the level of stimulation to a very pleasant level that pleased all the beta-testers, even those that are fans of higher caffeine doses!* This is a genuinely functional beverage which is more than capable of being a coffee or energy drink alternative.*
How To Use Mushroom Magic Matcha?
We had a lot of fun when developing Mushroom Magic Matcha because it genuinely tastes good. This was something that shocked us when doing market research because most of the matcha flavored mushroom beverages on the market didn't really taste very good. Part of the fun of having a pick me up beverage in the afternoon is also that it’s a pleasant beverage to sip on. So this was definitely an important attribute we wanted to get right. In 250 mL of hot or cold water, Mushroom Magic Matcha produces a very gently flavored beverage. You get some nice bright green notes from the matcha and some umami from the mushrooms. Definitely a beverage that is pleasant to drink but it’s also not spectacular by any means. Remember, it is just mushrooms (FULL doses!), matcha, caffeine, water and a dash of stevia so it’s not going to be the most delectable beverage ever, but it’s still perfectly pleasant! The real magic happens when you add Mushroom Magic Matcha to milk or milk alternatives, like oat milk. This produces a very tasty beverage and is one of our personal favorite ways in which to consume Mushroom Magic Matcha. It’s honestly a real treat!
In terms of how to use Mushroom Magic Matcha, this is very simple and also a bit of a left-field move on our part, a scoop! We have been vehemently anti-scoop for many years, because we carry very potent powders that should only ever be measured on a scale. However, for a multi-gram stack that is designed to be quick and easy to use, we went the extra mile to develop a scoop that would provide a reasonably precise dose every time. So, just grab a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha, add it to about 250 mL (or a cup) of liquid and you’ve got yourself a mushroom driven energy drink! It is important to note, that while Mushroom Magic Matcha is very easy to mix with hot or room temperature liquid, things get a little bit clumpy when using fridge temperature liquids. There are two ways in which cold liquid can work. The first and most involved method is to first mix a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha with a small amount of hot water to create a “concentrate” which can then be easily mixed with a cold liquid. The less involved option is to simply toss a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha into a shaker bottle and give it a really vigorous shake. Pro tip, if you do this with cold milk or milk alternative, you get a very nice frothy beverage!

A Properly Dosed Mushroom Beverage
Over the years, we got increasingly fed up with low dosed and ineffective “mushroom energy beverages”. Mushroom Magic Matcha Liquid Stacks
We always like to recommend stacks here, however, for Mushroom Magic Matcha this doesn’t seem totally right because part of the magic is that it is so simple and convenient to use.* Stacking with it defeats this simplicity. However, if we expand our definition of stacking to include what liquid we stack a drink mix with then we are getting somewhere! So, for a fun change of pace, here are three liquids that stack great with Mushroom Magic Matcha:
The Light & Zippy Liquid Stack: Mushroom Magic Matcha + Ginger Lime Water
There are two different versions of this liquid “stack”, the hot and the cold version. For the hot version, add two slices of ginger to 250 mL (or about 1 cup) of boiling water. Next, take a ¼ of a lime and squeeze some of its juice and the lime into the hot water with ginger. Now add a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha and stir it up. To make it extra special, add a bit of honey!
For the cold version, add your slices of ginger to a shaker bottle with 250 mL (or about 1 cup) of cold water. Then squeeze the juice of a ¼ lime into the shaker bottle and drop the remaining lime into the shaker bottle. Add a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha and give it a VERY vigorous shake. If possible, strain the resulting beverage into a glass for the ultimate refreshing experience!
The Creamy Liquid Stack: Mushroom Magic Matcha + Milk or Milk alternative + Vanilla extract
This is the more indulgent liquid “stack” and is sure to be a crowd pleaser! For the hot version, heat up 250 mL (about 1 cup) of milk or milk alternative and add a few drops of vanilla extract and a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha. If possible, use a milk frother to mix up your beverage and enjoy your frothy vanilla matcha mushroom latte! To really turn it into a treat, also add a bit of honey.
For the cold version, add 250 mL (about 1 cup) of milk or milk alternative to a shaker bottle and add a couple of drops of vanilla extract and a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha. Drop in some ice cubes and give it a very vigorous shake. Now you have an iced vanilla matcha mushroom latte! If you want to add honey to the iced version, first dissolve your honey into a small amount of hot water and add this “honey syrup” to the shaker bottle.
The Nutritious Liquid Stack: Mushroom Magic Matcha + Protein Powder
This is a very easy liquid “stack” and is great for fitness enthusiasts! Simply add a scoop of Mushroom Magic Matcha to a scoop of some neutral tasting protein powder, such as vanilla flavored protein powder, and now you have a delicious protein rich energy drink!
