Description

Sibelius Sage Powder

What is Sibelius Sage?

Salvia officinalis is a perennial shrub with woody stems towards the base, grayish leaves, and blooms blue and purple flowers. Salvia officinalis is more commonly called Garden Sage or just simply Sage. Although it is native to the Mediterranean region, it has been naturalized in many regions all over the world. Cultural uses of Sage range in everything from culinary dishes to health practices. In prior centuries, the use of Sage was popular in various regions throughout the world and many believed there were many Sage benefits. Sage was commonly used for hair care, oral health and even balancing inflammation levels. Around the 17th century, literature surrounding cognitive Sage benefits began circulating which ultimately spurred greater interest and research into the effects Sage may have on cognitive function. For years anecdotal reports claimed that consuming Sage was correlated to greater expression of cognitive skills such as memory and attention. It wasn’t until modern research and clinical studies conducted over recent years have revealed that Sage may help promote cognitive skills and overall brain health.

One of my favorites on ND - Double Ziplock bag it?

I initially got this for an uncle who was having minor memory issues. He's experimenting with stacks so he didn't really want too much and split the powder with me. I thought this was mostly towards the older age group but wow when I took a dose it literally felt like an invisible fog was dispersing almost immediately. This was the quickest acting powder I've had on here and for once it didn't make my thought process feel weird or strong but rather fluid. Beware of clumping though. My uncle kept his in the ND container and it got dark/hard after a few weeks. Mine went on well over a month before any issue I think because he put mine in a ziplock bag. Out of fear of a spill, I put the tiny ziplock inside a bigger ziplock and put an absorbing packet with the powder. Stored in room temp drawer. I noticed whatever spilled onto the bigger bag got dark much quicker. Whenever it started to clump I would just squeeze easily with the bag (unlike a container). It's a drag but worth it for me because I love this powder - as does my uncle

Interesting supplement, but powder gets lumpy fast

I took this one before bed for a few months on/off with the Natrium sleep stack, gotu kola, and magnesium glycinate. I had some pretty weird dreams the night I would take this one, and my Oura ring suggests I woke up less often on those nights. Overall, it's pretty interesting and nice for sleep, though I won't buy the powder again - it's annoying to handle when it clumps / hardens in the corners of the jar (this happened within a month or two despite the dessicant in the jar and the fairly dry winter air). UPDATE: After a few years, I decided to try this one again, despite my previous statements, and I capped it the day I opened it to avoid the clumping issues I had last time. This time, I noticed the previous increased dreaming, but there's definitely a point where it's bad for my sleep - taking double the dose I previously tried the first few days to finish up leftover powder from the capping process, I did dream much more, but had much worse sleep latency, too, to the point of taking hours to fall asleep. Maybe it was a one off, or I didn't notice this previously thanks to the lower dose and sleep stack, but I've switched to taking it in the mornings. Interestingly enough, I don't seem to get this effect from ND's lemon balm extract, which should have amounts of rosmarinic acid at the doses I take.

    Interesting

I could tell that it had acetylcholinesterase inhibition due too the mild discomfort in lower abdominal area AChE usually give me, however nowhere near as bad as huperzine A. So i can give a recommendation if huperzine is too potent or discomforting. The effects on cognition where subtle but noticeable mind that this is anecdotal.
