It's the same great mushroom blend that is in Mushroom Magic Matcha and Mushroom Magic Coffee but this time made into a delicious cocoa! We had actually sourced some cocoa from suppliers when doing our formulation and beta testing, but ran into a problem that is more common than most consumers think. The cocoa that we purchased from these very large suppliers was FAKE! That's right... cocoa is one of the most adulterated and fake products on the market. These companies make blends with things like carob and almond to mimic the flavor of cocoa and even throw in cocoa husks to trick DNA testing. We had no idea the scale of the problem before starting out on this blend.
Luckily we do tons of lab testing on everything that enters our facility so we caught the fraud right away. After realizing the extent of the issue of fake cocoa, we decided to go to the undisputed experts: Ghirardelli. Founded in 1852 in San Francisco California, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company makes some of the best chocolate in the world. We partnered with them on this project and they supplied us with their highest end cocoa powder called Ghirardelli Majestic. Why reinvent the wheel when we can just work with the best? After getting the Majestic cocoa in, we knew we made the right decision! The bold and rich flavor elevates this drink to a whole new level. Ghirardelli Majestic contains 50% more cocoa butter and you recognize that in the flavor and mouthfeel right away. The natural earthy and umami flavors of the mushrooms meld perfectly into the delicious cocoa. This is not one to miss! We've personally been using either Mushroom Magic Matcha or Mushroom Magic Coffee in the morning or afternoons and Mushroom Magic Cocoa as a nice night cap! Combining one of the caffeinated Mushroom Magic formulations during the day with a dose of Mushroom Magic Cocoa at night has been one of our favorite ways to introduce LOTS of mushrooms to our daily stack. If on the other hand, you are interested in getting a high amount of mushrooms in at once but are not interested in taking too much caffeine, we've actually found that Mushroom Magic Coffee and Mushroom Magic Cocoa combine really nicely to produce a type of mocha flavor. However, if you really want to treat yourself, we would recommend mixing a scoop of Mushroom Magic Cocoa with hot milk or milk alternative. This provides a very luxuriously delicious beverage that is great for winding down at the end of the day!
Unlike our other Mushroom Magics, the Mushroom Magic Cocoa does include some high quality cane sugar which we realized was essential for getting the flavor profile right. This makes it much harder to mix Mushroom Magic Cocoa straight into a cold beverage, because the crystalline cane sugar will not dissolve. However, Mushroom Magic Cocoa can still be used to make a very delicious cold chocolate milk, but you have to start off with some hot water or milk. First, take the hot liquid and mix a small amount of it with a scoop of Mushroom Magic Cocoa until everything has dissolved into a smooth paste. At this point you can add cold milk and shake it up vigorously to make some delicious frothy chocolate milk!

Mushroom Magic Chocolate Milk Stack: Mushroom Magic Cocoa + milk or milk alternative
The easiest drink stack to make with Mushroom Magic Cocoa is to mix it with either hot or cold milk/milk alternative in order to make delicious chocolate milk! If you want to make cold chocolate milk, then first mix the Mushroom Magic Cocoa with a bit of hot water in order to get the cane sugar crystals to dissolve as they will not dissolve in cold milk.
Mushroom Magic Mocha Stack: Mushroom Magic Cocoa + Mushroom Magic Coffee
If you want to add a bit of caffeine to your cocoa, then we would recommend mixing half a scoop of Mushroom Magic Coffee with either a half or whole scoop of mushroom Magic Cocoa. This will provide a delicious mocha taste, while adding some stimulation to the mix!*
Mushroom Magic Yogurt Stack: Mushroom Magic cocoa + Yogurt
Instead of making Mushroom Magic Cocoa into a drink, you can also use it to flavor various types of foods. This gets especially interesting when you mix Mushroom Magic Cocoa with functional foods, like yogurt, which delivers a solid dose of probiotics! Simply mix a scoop of Mushroom Magic Cocoa with high quality plain yogurt and you’ve got a delicious chocolatey yogurt! The interesting thing about this stack is that you are getting probiotics from the yogurt and prebiotics from the Mushroom Magic Cocoa, making this an especially good stack for gut health.*
