Why Should I Take NADH + Chlorella Capsules?
In the world of NAD+ enhancing supplements, NADH stands out for a multitude of reasons. First and foremost, NADH is simply just reduced NAD+, and with a simple oxidation step, NADH is rapidly converted to NAD+. This means NADH supplementation is one of the quickest ways to raise NAD+ levels. Secondly, NADH is noticeably more stimulating than other NAD+ supplements, like NMN or Nicotinamide Riboside. We like to refer to it as cellular energy “rocket fuel”!
So, if you want to get straight to the point and raise NAD+ levels as quickly as possible, then NADH is going to be a perfect fit for you! If you are someone who has always wanted to experience the famed energizing effects of NMN or Nicotinamide Riboside, but have never felt them, then NADH could also be the answer. Within our beta-testing program, we quickly discovered that the energizing effects of NADH are quite pronounced, especially when compared to NMN or Nicotinamide Riboside.* In a similar vein, if you do get noticeable energizing effects from NMN or Nicotinamide Riboside and want more of it, then NADH would be the perfect fit for you!*
What is NADH?
NADH is the reduced form of NAD+ and is actively transported to the mitochondria of our cells. Once in the mitochondria, a simple oxidation reaction converts NADH to NAD+ in a single step. This means that NADH supplementation is one of the most direct and efficient ways in which to raise NAD+ levels.Want to learn more about how NADH works and its benefits? Just keep reading!
NADH Benefits & Uses
- Increases NAD+ levels*
- Enhances ATP production and cellular energy*
- Promotes healthy aging*
Cellular Rocket Fuel
During beta-testing, we all instantly noticed how much more energizing NADH can be when compared to other NAD+ supplements like NMN and Nicotinamide Riboside. This led us to quickly incorporate it into our NAD+ stack, OptiNAD+. Within this stack, NADH perfectly rounded out the stack by turbo charging the energizing aspect of enhancing NAD+ levels.* The reason this is the case for NADH is because it plays a direct role in ATP production.*
During the process of ATP production, NADH becomes oxidized, which then yields NAD+. Since NADH plays such an important role in the electron transport chain, it also makes sense that there are active transporters that can get NADH to the mitochondria of the cell, which is where ATP synthesis takes place. With this in mind, we are getting a very cool two pronged effect with NADH. First, NADH generates ATP, which translates to cellular energy, and while this ATP is being produced, NAD+ is concurrently being produced. Now that’s a win-win situation if we’ve ever heard of one!
NAD+ plays a major role in cellular energy production, metabolism, healthy aging, brain health, and even controls aspects of our circadian rhythms! Pretty much every cell in our body relies on NAD+, so enhancing its levels can have very wide ranging benefits. This is especially true as we age, since NAD+ production starts to decline with age, and our NAD+ stores start to become depleted. By adding NADH into your daily routine, you are able to help ease the natural decline and give your body the NAD+ levels it needs, while also boosting your energy levels!
NADH Stability Blend
While NADH appears to be quite stable, it appears that when NADH is mixed with a chlorophyll source, it becomes more stable. We chose chlorella as our chlorophyll source in this stability blend, and added in the antioxidant power of sodium ascorbate (vitamin C) to further protect the NADH.
NAD+ Precursor Comparison
Since we now have quite a few NAD+ precursor supplements, we figured a comparison was in order, to help you choose the best NAD+ product for your needs!
Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN): NMN is one of the most popular and researched NAD+ supplements. NMN feeds into the salvage pathway (one of the NAD+ synthesis pathways), and is only one step away from NAD+. NMN also has its own active transporter, meaning that NMN bioavailability is quite high. Go for NMN if you are interested in dipping your toes into the NAD+ world and are planning on long term supplementation.*
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR): NR is another very popular NAD+ precursor, which, similar to NMN, feeds into the salvage pathway. However, NR first has to convert to NMN before it can be converted into NAD+. This makes it less efficient as an NAD+ precursor when compared to NMN, but it is still a fantastic NAD+ precursor. The unique thing about NR, is that it has neuroprotective properties that are more pronounced than other NAD+ precursors. With this in mind, go for NR if you are looking for enhanced NAD+ status in addition to neuroprotection.*
NADH: NADH is the most direct and efficient NAD+ precursor, being only one simple oxidation step away from NAD+. The most interesting thing about this, is that this step occurs while ATP is being generated. This means that when you supplement NADH, you are concurrently enhancing both ATP levels and NAD+ levels. With this in mind, go for NADH if you are looking for pronounced energizing effects!*
OptiNAD+: If you can’t decide on a single NAD+ precursor, why not take them all? OptiNAD+ contains NMN, NR and NADH in addition to unique flavonoids and methyl donors which help enhance NAD+ levels and improve the effectiveness of NAD+!*
NADH Stacks
NAD+ Stack: NADH + Quercetin Phytosome Capsules
While quercetin doesn’t directly enhance NAD+ levels, it does something entirely different that still affects NAD+ levels. Quercetin blocks an enzyme called CD38, which is an enzyme that breaks down NAD+. This means that by supplementing with quercetin, NAD+ isn’t broken down as quickly, which then indirectly enhances overall NAD+ stores. When taken with NADH which directly elevates NAD+ levels, quercetin can help preserve the NAD+ increases from NADH supplementation! Furthermore, the highly bioavailable quercetin phytosome, will further enhance the energizing effects of NADH!*
The Cellular Stack: NADH + Reduced Glutathione Tablets
Oxidation is an incredible adversary to cellular function and can wreak havoc on the cells of our body. Glutathione is one of the best regulators of oxidation but we often need more of it than our body’s have stored. By supplementing with Reduced Glutathione, our cells are better protected from oxidation, which can even help enhance ATP production when paired with NADH!*
The Metabolic Stack: NADH + Berberine Phytosome Capsules
Berberine is well known for its effects on metabolic function because it activates 5' AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). In times of fasting, AMPK becomes activated and inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol and triglycerides. The cool thing is that Berberine can activate AMPK without fasting, which helps promote metabolic function. When taken with NADH, these two make for the ultimate metabolic stack!*
NADH Dosage
