L-theanine Capsules

What is L-Theanine?

First discovered as a constituent of green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) in 1949. L-Theanine is a non-proteinogenic amino acids and is considered a nondietary amino acid, not unlike L-Ornithine or L-Citrulline. L-Theanine is primarily known for its ability to promote relaxation without causing sleep and is often paired with Caffeine. It is thought that L-Theanine helps balance the negative effects of Caffeine that some people experience. Together, L-theanine and Caffeine are considered one of the most commonly used and popular nootropic stack options that may promote faster reaction time, numeric working memory reaction time and improved sentence verification accuracy.

L-Theanine may have positive mood-boosting effects as scientists have discovered that it changes levels of amino acids affecting serotonin and other neurotransmitters in the brain. L-Theanine may also help suppress glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids are stress hormones that can have a negative effect on mood, memory and learning. L-Theanine may act as a glutamate antagonist and, in turn, balance the harmful effects of high glucocorticoid levels. This also suggests that L-Theanine may be neuroprotective as well. 

Additionally, L-Theanine may promote better sleep. One Japanese human study where participants were given a daily L-Theanine supplement concluded that L-Theanine did not induce sleep or make them sleep longer - but rather that it improved sleep quality. Documented participant responses claimed that exhaustion recovery and feelings of being refreshed were enhanced by L-Theanine.

L-Theanine supplementation has been studied for its potential ability to reduce mental and physical stress, improve cognition, and boost mood and cognitive performance. It is also reported to promote alpha wave production in the brain. One study conducted by Unilever was able to confirm that even small amounts of L-Theanine were able to promote alpha wave production as indicated on an EEG (Electroencephalography).

    I really like this supplement as it gives me a calm yet alert state of mind throughout the day. It practically eliminates any brain fog I may feel and gives me a smooth (no jitteriness) form of energy and focus for many hours on end!

    This has helped the long term effects of withdrawal from other GABAergics. Onset is slow and gentle, and I have noticed no rebound effect. For me, more than 200 mg per evening can result in effect continuing into the following day.

    This supplement is great for stacking with caffeine. Reduces and eliminates jitteriness associated with high caffeine doses. Keeps you extremely alert without feeling like bouncing off the walls. Also great on it's own. I utilized this prior to going to large events and family gatherings and it worked wonders regulating anxious feelings and allowing me to enjoy myself. Highly recommended.

    Before I purchased this product. I read it helps with focus and memory as well. I’m studying for a certification. I was really hoping this product would help me focus and it hasn’t helped :(. I’ve been taking this product for over a month now. The only thing I have noticed is I’m in better mood. I take one pill with a cup of coffee every morning. Can I take another one in the mid afternoon ? What would you recommended to take to help me focus while I study? Can some one please email me back.
