Introducing CuroWhite: A Stain-Free And Odorless Curcumin Extract In A Highly Bioavailable Form

TRADITIONAL CURCUMIN SUPPLEMENTS

Curcumin supplements have taken the world by storm in recent years, and for good reason, as it has some incredible effects! Curcumin is one of many bioactive compounds that are contained in the rhizoma (roots) of the Curcuma longa plant, which is most commonly known as Turmeric. The bright orange color of Turmeric is largely due to its curcumin content, which is a bright orange pigment. Its bright orange color is likely also what has gained Curcumin a good portion of its popularity. It's undeniable the bright orange color is unique and very aesthetically pleasing, especially on well-curated Instagram posts! However, for anyone who has actually handled some Curcumin powder, you know that it’s pain to work with. To put it bluntly, handling Curcumin is difficult and here’s why...

WHY TRADITIONAL CURCUMIN SUPPLEMENTS CAN BE HARD TO USE

Turmeric, and more specifically its Curcumin content, has been used for centuries in cooking, traditional practices and in textiles. It can give curries and rice a beautiful color, but it can also be used to dye textiles and clothing. Curcumin makes a great natural dye because it is not very water soluble, meaning it is hard to wash out of clothes. This is fantastic when you intentionally dye your clothes with it, however, it is a major inconvenience when you accidentally get some Curcumin powder on yourself. When you spill any Curcumin powder, it will get everywhere! Even when you think you have gotten rid of the last of it, you’ll be surprised at the yellow smudges you still leave behind on white surfaces. The color of Curcumin oftentimes perfectly blends in with the natural color of your fingers, and thus it spreads around very easily and it is hard to get rid of it.

Another issue with Curcumin is that in its pure form it’s not very efficacious as a supplement. In order to truly attain Curcumin's benefits, you need to put in quite a lot of effort to make it work. For example, without including some Piperine, straight Curcumin powder does not absorb well in the body. Even when it does, we need to take large doses. This is a shame because Curcumin benefits can be very supportive for our overall health! However, these Curcumin benefits are just too hard to obtain sometimes, especially in powder form! Luckily, after lots and lots of research, we have finally found the solution to the issues we have with Curcumin in the form of Curowhite.

THE SOLUTION TO EASY CURCUMIN SUPPLEMENTATION: CUROWHITE

Comparing Curowhite and regular Curcumin Extracts

The interesting thing about Curcumin, is that once it has been absorbed by the body, it’s metabolites often produce more Curcumin benefits than Curcumin itself. Perhaps even more interesting is that these metabolites do not share the same characteristic color of Curcumin. In fact, they are completely colorless! Through lots of research, Aurea Biolabs has figured out a novel method that allows them to pre-metabolize Curcumin into its respective metabolites which are:

- Tetrahydrocurcuminoids
- Hexahydrocurcuminoids
- Octahydrocurcuminoids

The great thing about these Curcumin metabolites is that they produce the same great Curcumin benefits but with a complete lack of color! This makes Curowhite a lot easier to deal with in powder form than traditional Curcumin supplements without having to sacrifice any of the Curcumin benefits.

In fact, Curowhite even goes a step further to maximize Curcumin benefits! The white Curcuminoids have been microencapsulated with Beta-Cyclodextrin. This significantly improves bioavailability, and as an added bonus, makes the powder water soluble! This is hugely beneficial because traditional Curcumin supplements are not water soluble, thus making it hard to dose them. Furthermore, as we mentioned earlier, traditional Curcumin supplements do not have great bioavailability, which the Beta-Cyclodextrins also help fix.

HOW IS CUROWHITE CURCUMIN MADE?

Curowhite starts out as a high quality Curcumin powder that undergoes a process called catalytic hydrogenation. During this process, molecular hydrogen (from water) is added to the structure of Curcumin, which reduces the Curcumin into the white Curcumin metabolites. This process is similar to what happens to Curcumin in the body, yet it takes a much more controlled and direct approach. What we end up with is a collection of Curcumin metabolites that would normally take hours to form in the human body. Then, through an advanced microencapsulation process, these white Curcuminoids are loaded into the structure of Beta-Cyclodextrins.

Cyclodextrins are highly specialized forms of starches, that as the name might suggest, are cyclic. To better explain this, take a look at the graphic below:

Cyclodextrins

As you can see in the graphic above, the structure of Cyclodextrins is circular. Through specialized methods, it is possible to load the white Curcuminoids into the center of these Cyclodextrins. In particular, the middle Cyclodextrin, Beta-Cyclodextrin, is perfectly suited for the Curcumin metabolites. Once inside of the Cyclodextrin structure, the Curcumin metabolites are more stable and take on the properties of the Cyclodextrins. Since Cyclodextrins are water soluble, this now also means that the Curcumin metabolites are water soluble! Furthermore, Cyclodextrins are easily taken up by the body and thus further improves on Curcumin bioavailability.

Just as with Curcumin, there are a plethora of Curowhite benefits! In our opinion, these are the top four benefits:

- Helps promote balanced levels of inflammation
- Helps promote joint health
- May help promote balanced levels of oxidation
- May help promote mood

For the rest of this blog, we will be focusing on each individual benefit and discussing them in detail. The following section will be in order of the list of Curowhite benefits above, so if you are interested in just one of these benefits, just skip to your section of interest! However, if you’d like to get a complete picture of what a Curowhite supplement can do for you, we recommend checking out all of the benefits!

CUROWHITE MAY HELP PROMOTE BALANCED LEVELS OF INFLAMMATION*

"Research has shown that magnesium levels are decreasing in most foods... With the magnesium content decreasing in crops and the increase in the consumption of processed foods, magnesium deficiencies in the population are becoming more prevalent."

One of the most attractive aspects of traditional Curcumin supplements is their ability to help promote balanced levels of inflammation. However, useability and limited bioavailability mean that this benefit is oftentimes not fully realized with regular Curcumin supplements. Curowhite on the other hand solves both of these issues, offering a highly usable Curcumin supplement with great bioavailability. This makes Curowhite a fantastic supplement for promoting balanced levels of inflammation throughout the body!

Curowhite exerts this inflammation balancing effect through a few different pathways. One of the main pathways it achieves this is by regulating the activity of an enzyme called Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-2 is one of the most important regulators of inflammation in our body and by regulating its activity, we can help promote balanced levels of inflammation. When comparing the Curcumin metabolites Tetrahydrocurcumin and Octahydrocurcumin against plain Curcumin, it appears that they are more efficacious at regulating the activity of COX-2 than Curcumin itself. These two metabolites make up the majority of the Curcuminoid profile in Curowhite, which means that even without it’s Cyclodextrin technology, Curowhite is already better suited at promoting balanced inflammation levels than Curcumin is. When factoring in the bioavailability improvements of the Cyclodextrin technology in Curowhite, it becomes clear that Curowhite is perhaps the best Curcumin supplement for promoting balanced inflammation levels!

CUROWHITE MAY HELP PROMOTE JOINT HEALTH*

Another popular use for a Curcumin supplement is for promoting joint health. Curowhite takes the lead again here since the Curcuminoid metabolites, in particular Tetrahydrocurcumin, appears to be more efficacious at promoting joint health than Curcumin itself. Now, keep in mind that this is considering both plain Curcumin and plain Tetrahydrocurcumin. When we factor in the improved bioavailability of Curowhite’s Cyclodextrin technology, there really is no comparison between the two.

The main pathway by which a Curcumin supplement promotes joint health is by regulating the activity of two enzymes called Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 (MMP3) and Matrix Metalloproteinase-13 (MMP13). The main function of these enzymes is to break down Collagen and Proteoglycans in articular cartilage. Articular cartilage is a type of elastic tissue that covers the ends of bones and makes up the majority of our joints. Furthermore, the majority of articular cartilage is made up of Proteoglycans and Collagens. Thus, when the activity of MMP3 and MMP13 is high, we may lose a portion of our articular cartilage which could negatively impact our joint health. Curcumin and Tetrahydrocurcumin help support lower levels of MMP3 and MMP13, thereby helping to promote strong and healthy joints! Better yet, Tetrahydrocurcumin is even better at regulating MMP3 and MMP13 activity than plain Curcumin, which means Curowhite is perhaps the best Curcumin supplement for helping to promote joint health!

CUROWHITE MAY HELP PROMOTE BALANCED LEVELS OF OXIDATION*

Curcumin is also great at helping to promote balanced levels of oxidation. Better yet, it appears that the Curcumin metabolites that make up the Curcuminoid profile of Curowhite, are yet again more efficacious at promoting balanced levels of oxidation than Curcumin itself! In particular Tetrahydrocurcumin, which makes up the majority of Curowhite, appears to be the most efficacious Curcuminoid for promoting balanced levels of oxidation. Now keep in mind, this is considering Tetrahydrocurcumin is in its plain form, yet in Curowhite it has been microencapsulated in Beta-Cyclodextrin which significantly improves its bioavailability. This perhaps makes Curowhite the best Curcumin supplement for helping to promote balanced levels of oxidation!

Curowhite helps promote balanced levels of oxidation by supporting higher levels of our bodies own oxidation regulating enzymes. These enzymes are:

- Glutathione Peroxidase
- Glutathione S-Transferase
- NADPH:Quinone Reductase

By promoting higher levels of these enzymes in our bodies, Curowhite may help support balanced levels of oxidation. Better yet, since Curowhite is supporting the activity of our body's own natural oxidation regulating enzymes, Curowhite offers a very natural method of promoting balanced levels of oxidation!

CUROWHITE MAY HELP PROMOTE MOOD*

Curcumin is also oftentimes utilized as a supplement for promoting a positive mood. Traditional Curcumin supplements however do not readily make it into the brain due to their poor bioavailability, thus they have limited usefulness for promoting a positive mood. Curowhite on the other hand is much more bioavailable due to both being pre-metabolized and being microencapsulated with Beta-Cyclodextrin. In our opinion, this puts it head to head with one of our long time favorites; Longvida.

Longvida was designed to make it into the brain, and thus it is regarded as the best Curcumin supplement for promoting a positive mood. However, it appears that Tetrahydrocurcumin is even more efficacious than Curcumin at regulating the activity of the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway. This pathway is highly involved with mood, and regulating its activity with Curcumin has been shown to help with promoting mood. It appears that Tetrahydrocurcumin is even more efficacious at regulating the Keap1-Nrf2 pathway than Curcumin and thus, if Curowhite also makes it into the brain as readily as Longvida, then it may perhaps become the best Curcumin supplement for promoting a positive mood. However, since there currently is no data on how readily Curowhite makes it into the brain, we would still consider Longvida to be the best Curcumin supplement for promoting a positive mood. That being said though, we believe that Curowhite could be a very worthy contender for the title, pending more research of course!

HOW CAN YOU USE CUROWHITE CURCUMIN?

What Makes CuroWhite Curcumin Unique?

The easiest way to use Curowhite is to just take one of our Curowhite tablets. However, the powder form of Curowhite offers some unique dosing methods that make it easy to use the powder instead of the tablets. Unlike traditional Curcumin powder, Curowhite is mostly tasteless, has great water solubility and is not staining. This means it is especially well suited for use in various drinks and food.

For example, Curowhite would be very well suited in a post-workout shake. After a heavy workout, inflammation and oxidation levels may go up significantly in the body and this is what oftentimes causes muscle soreness. By including Curowhite in your post-workout shake, you can both provide your body with the nutrients it needs while also helping support recovery from your workout!

Curowhite could also be included in various different foods. For example, you could add it to your morning oatmeal. The possibilities are endless with Curowhite, so if you have a milligram scale or are thinking about picking up one of our milligram scales, then we would recommend picking up Curowhite powder so that you can experiment with some new recipes! If you come up with a recipe we would love to hear about it!
